Erling Haaland has officially signed a new contract with Manchester City, extending his stay at the club until 2034. The 24-year-old’s previous contract was set to end in 2027, but this new agreement means he will remain with the team for almost another decade, lasting until he is 34 years old.
This extension does not include the release clauses that were present in his previous deal, and it is said to be one of the most financially rewarding contracts in sports history.
Haaland expressed his excitement about the new deal, saying, “Manchester City is a special Club, full of fantastic people with amazing supporters and it’s the type of environment that helps bring the best out of everybody.”
He also took the opportunity to thank his coach, Pep Guardiola, his teammates, and the staff at the club, acknowledging their support over the past years.
Haaland added, “They have made this such a special place to be and now I am City no matter what. I want to keep developing, keep working to get better and look to do my best to try and help us achieve more success going forward.”
Since joining Manchester City from Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2022, Haaland has been frequently linked with a move to Real Madrid. However, with this new contract, it seems the Spanish club’s interest has been deflected.
In his time at Manchester City, Haaland has scored 111 goals in 126 appearances, helping the club win two Premier League titles, the Champions League, and the FA Cup.
