Chelsea legend John Terry has showered praise on Axel Disasi and Malo Gusto following his former team’s 1-1 draw against Manchester City on Sunday (February 17).
The Blues, who had previously held City to a 4-4 draw at Stamford Bridge earlier in the season, managed to take the lead at the Etihad Stadium with Raheem Sterling’s 42nd-minute goal. However, Rodri’s left-footed strike in the 83rd minute leveled the score for the champions.
After the conclusion of the recent Premier League clash, Terry commended Chelsea for their impressive performance against Manchester City. He particularly highlighted the outstanding contributions of the French defensive duo, expressing on X:
“Great performance. 👏🏻 We looked solid and posed a threat on the counterattack, Disasi and Gusto were both excellent. @ChelseaFC ⚽️💙 👊🏻 Brilliant from everyone.”
Disasi, who joined from AS Monaco for approximately £39 million last summer, delivered a standout display against Pep Guardiola’s side. The 25-year-old completed 26 of 32 passes, registered an impressive 16 clearances and three blocks, and emerged victorious in four of six duels on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Gusto effectively neutralized Jeremy Doku’s threat on the right flank for his team at the Etihad. The 20-year-old won three of eight tackles and nine of 14 duels and also created two significant chances against City.
