Ezekiel Elliott is set to return to the Dallas Cowboys for the 2024 season on a one-year deal, expressing his determination to help the team secure a Super Bowl victory. After spending the 2023 season with the New England Patriots, Elliott emphasized his commitment to the Cowboys, stating that there is “unfinished business” and he’s eager to “chase a ring.”
The deal Elliott signed with the Cowboys is reportedly worth up to $3 million for one year, with incentives of up to $1 million based on various performance metrics such as yards, touchdowns, playing time, and playoff success. His return was celebrated by both Elliott and the team, with the running back expressing his excitement through a social media post captioned “RUN IT BACK.”
Having served as a backup during the 2023 season, Elliott is poised to reclaim his former RB1 position with the Cowboys, particularly after the departure of veteran running back Tony Pollard to free agency. Despite his role as a backup, Elliott still managed to tally 642 rushing yards and three touchdowns, showcasing his value to the team.
Drafted as the No. 4 pick in 2016, Elliott has spent the majority of his NFL career with the Cowboys, earning three Pro Bowl selections and leading the league in rushing yards twice.
However, despite his individual success, Elliott has yet to advance past the divisional round of the playoffs with the Cowboys, who have not reached the Super Bowl since 1995. Now, as he enters his age-29 season, Elliott is determined to change that narrative and help lead the Cowboys to postseason success.
