Former Poland goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny, who is set to join Barcelona following an injury to Marc-André ter Stegen, attended the club’s 5-0 victory over Young Boys in the Champions League on Tuesday.

Szczesny watched the match from a VIP area at the Montjuic stadium. His signing is expected to be announced in the coming days.

Iñaki Peña has been the starting goalkeeper for Barcelona since Ter Stegen underwent surgery for a ruptured tendon in his right knee last month during a Spanish league game.

Barcelona coach Hansi Flick has supported Peña but mentioned that the club plans to bring in another goalkeeper.

Szczesny retired from professional soccer in August after leaving the Italian club Juventus.

The 34-year-old Szczesny began his professional career at Arsenal and has made 84 appearances for Poland, with his last two games being at this summer’s European Championship.
