Monaco signed Netherlands defender Jordan Teze on Tuesday, bringing in Champions League experience as they get ready to return to the competition.

Teze signed a five-year contract with Monaco, which reportedly will pay PSV Eindhoven 12 million euros ($13.3 million) for the right back.

The 24-year-old Teze played eight Champions League games last season when PSV was knocked out in the round of 16 by Borussia Dortmund.

Monaco finished as the runner-up to Paris Saint-Germain in the French league last season and has qualified directly for the Champions League for the first time in six years.

Monaco made it to the Champions League semifinals in 2017 with a young Kylian Mbappé on their team. Mbappé later moved to PSG.

Next week, the principality will host the draw for the new and expanded Champions League format, which has replaced the traditional group stage. Now, 36 teams will each play eight games against different opponents in a single league standings.
