Former American women’s soccer legend Carli Lloyd and her husband are expecting their first child in October.
The 41-year-old Lloyd shared her pregnancy news on Instagram, mentioning that she and her husband Brian Hollins had faced challenges in conceiving and had sought fertility treatments.
“It’s been quite a journey to reach this point,” Lloyd expressed. “We’re thrilled to become parents! Brian has been my rock throughout.”
Lloyd retired from professional soccer in 2021, concluding a remarkable career highlighted by two World Cup victories and two Olympic gold medals.
One of her most memorable moments was scoring a hat-trick in the 2015 Women’s World Cup final against Japan.
With 316 appearances for the national team, Lloyd is the second-most capped player in U.S. soccer history. She also ranks third in all-time goals scored with 134, along with 61 assists.
During her illustrious career spanning 22 years, Lloyd was honored twice as the FIFA Women’s Player of the Year.
Recently, Lloyd participated in the U.S. State Department’s Sports Envoy program in Greece alongside former U.S. men’s soccer star Cobi Jones.
