Four-time Formula 1 champion Sebastian Vettel is returning to driving.
Vettel is teaming up with Porsche as a test driver for its Le Mans program. He says, “we will then see what happens next.”
The German will be driving the Porsche 963 car for Porsche Penske Motorsport during a 36-hour test session at the Motorland Aragon circuit in Spain next week. Porsche mentioned that Vettel already had a brief session driving the car at Porsche’s private test track in Weissach, Germany, on Thursday.
“This will be a new experience for me,” Vettel said. “We will then see what happens next in this respect – at the moment there are no further plans for the future.”
Vettel retired from Formula 1 after the 2022 season with Aston Martin. He cited wanting to spend more time with his family and concerns about F1’s impact on the environment as reasons for his decision. Since 2022, cars in the Le Mans 24-hour race have been using biofuel made from waste from the wine industry.
