Freddy Peralta struck out eight batters over six innings, allowing just three hits, as the Milwaukee Brewers defeated the Los Angeles Angels 2-0 on Wednesday night. Peralta’s strong performance outshined Tyler Anderson in a pitchers’ duel.

Rhys Hoskins and Willy Adames drove in runs for the Brewers, who won two out of three games in Anaheim at the start of their road trip through Southern California.

Peralta, coming off tough outings against Cincinnati and Detroit, credited his improved mindset for his success against the Angels. Despite walking two batters and facing challenges, Peralta managed to repeatedly escape trouble.

“I had the right mindset today,” Peralta explained. “I focused on that over the last few days. Sometimes I put too much pressure on myself, but my family helps me relax.”

In the sixth inning, Peralta faced a critical moment when the Angels had two runners in scoring position, but he retired Logan O’Hoppe on a groundout to end the threat.

“Freddy was terrific,” praised Brewers manager Pat Murphy. “His concentration was consistent. He expects this level of performance. He battled well tonight.”

Relievers Bryan Hudson and Trevor Megill combined with Peralta to limit the Angels to just four hits, securing Milwaukee’s fourth shutout victory of the season and Megill’s 15th save.

Tyler Anderson, who allowed one run in seven innings, suffered his third loss in seven starts despite a solid outing for the Angels.

“It was a pitchers’ duel,” commented Angels manager Ron Washington. “Anderson was efficient, spotting his fastball well and keeping them off balance. He deserved a better outcome.”
