Gerrit Cole is set to return on Sunday for the Yankees’ final game against Toronto after missing a start due to body fatigue.
The AL Cy Young Award winner practiced pitching on Friday before the Blue Jays series opener.
At 33, Cole had his first game of the season on June 19 after dealing with right elbow inflammation that kept him out since spring training.
So far, Cole has a 3-2 record with a 5.40 ERA in seven starts. He has given up 21 earned runs and 39 hits over 35 innings, with 38 strikeouts and 12 walks. In his last start on July 24, he allowed three home runs in a loss to the Mets.
