Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love is set to return on Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings after missing two games due to a knee injury.
The Packers did not list Love as one of their inactive players for Sunday’s game, as he practiced on a limited basis for the second week in a row. He has been out since hurting his left medial collateral ligament during the last series of a 34-29 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on September 6 in Brazil.
Love arrived at Lambeau Field wearing a Brett Favre No. 4 Packers jersey. Favre, who spent most of his Hall of Fame career with the Packers but played his final two seasons with the Vikings, announced on Tuesday that he has been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease.
He shared this news as part of his testimony to a congressional committee about a welfare misuse scandal in Mississippi.
With Love unable to play for the last two weeks, Malik Willis has led the Packers to wins over the Indianapolis Colts and Tennessee Titans.
Willis completed 25 of 33 passes for 324 yards, with two touchdown passes and no interceptions in those games. He also rushed for 114 yards and one touchdown on 12 carries.
The injury news for the Packers (2-1) isn’t all positive ahead of their NFC North matchup with the Vikings (3-0).
Two-time Pro Bowl cornerback Jaire Alexander will not play due to quadriceps and groin issues that kept him from practicing on Friday. The Packers will also be without cornerback Carrington Valentine for a second straight game because of an ankle injury.
This leaves Green Bay’s secondary weaker as they try to contain a Minnesota receiving group that includes 2022 All-Pro Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison, who is back after missing two games with an ankle injury.
