Baltimore’s shortstop, Gunnar Henderson, is expected to receive the largest share from this season’s $50 million pre-arbitration bonus pool based on his performance during the regular season.
According to calculations using WAR data through July 7, Major League Baseball provided projections in a memo to teams, players, and agents. Henderson is slated to earn $1,325,021, leading the list. Kansas City’s Bobby Witt Jr.
follows with $1,192,410, and Cincinnati’s Elly De La Cruz is third at $846,669.
Other notable players on the list include Cleveland’s Steven Kwan, Boston’s Jarren Duran, and New York Yankees’ Anthony Volpe.
These payments are part of the 2022 collective bargaining agreement, aiming to provide additional compensation to players who do not yet qualify for salary arbitration due to limited major league service time.
