The 49ers are bringing left tackle Trent Williams back just before next Monday’s season opener, but their opponent has not managed to resolve their own holdout issue.
Edge rusher Haason Reddick underwent a physical and held a press conference after being traded to the Jets, but he has stayed away from the team for the rest of the offseason.
Jets head coach Robert Saleh mentioned on Tuesday that there has been no update on Reddick’s situation “that I’m aware of” and said the team is prepared to welcome him if he chooses to return.
Saleh also explained how the team would work Reddick into the lineup if he decides to come back.
“It’s gonna be all dependent on how he looks,” Saleh said, via SNY. “If and when he shows up, we’ll put him through some work with the training staff, see where he’s at and communicate with him on what we can figure out.”
With Williams rejoining the 49ers, Reddick is the only holdout remaining in the league, and it seems there is no resolution in sight.
