Beatriz Haddad Maia moved on to the semifinals of the Korea Open after a rain delay, winning 6-2, 6-1 against Polina Kudermetova on Saturday. Haddad Maia was the runner-up in this tournament back in 2017.

Rain on Friday canceled all matches, so both the quarterfinals and semifinals had to be played on Saturday.

While 21-year-old Kudermetova faced Haddad Maia on Centre Court, her older sister Veronika, who is 27, played against Viktoriya Tomova on the Grandstand Court. Veronika had a successful match, winning 7-5, 6-3.

Haddad Maia was set to play Veronika Kudermetova in the first semifinal later that day, with a chance to defeat both sisters.

In another quarterfinal, top seed Daria Kasatkina moved forward when 2021 U.S. Open champion Emma Raducanu retired due to a left foot injury after losing the first set 6-1.

Kasatkina had previously beaten Raducanu without dropping a set in their two earlier matches, including a 6-2, 6-2 win at the Eastbourne quarterfinals three months ago. Raducanu was looking to reach her first semifinal above the WTA 250 level since her victory at the U.S. Open.

In the other quarterfinal, fourth seed Diana Shnaider faced fifth seed Marta Kostyuk, with the winner set to play Kasatkina in the semifinals.
