Anthony Santander and Ramón Urías also hit home runs as Baltimore won for the ninth time in 11 games. The Orioles have a strong record of 31-11 when hitting more than one home run in a game. This win improves their record against AL East opponents to 12-4.
Rodriguez, with a record of 6-2, allowed only one earned run and seven hits in 6 2/3 innings, securing his first win in four career starts against Toronto.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. hit a solo home run, his sixth of the season, for the Blue Jays. Guerrero has hit 23 home runs against Baltimore in his career, the most against any opponent.
Hays hit a two-run home run in the fourth inning and then added a solo shot in the seventh inning. This was his first home run of the season and his sixth career game with multiple home runs.
Hays attributed his recent success to feeling fully healthy after recovering from a strained left calf that kept him out from April 22 to May 13.
Santander hit his 11th home run of the season in the second inning after Ryan O’Hearn walked.
Kevin Gausman, the Blue Jays pitcher, was charged with six runs and six hits in 6 1/3 innings, marking his first loss since April 23 against Kansas City. Gausman allowed a season-high three home runs in this game, more than he had given up in his past nine starts combined.
