Alonso, a revered figure at Liverpool who famously scored in the club’s Champions League triumph in Istanbul, has emerged as a candidate for the managerial position. Leverkusen, currently leading the Bundesliga table, has enjoyed a successful season under Alonso’s guidance.
Fabregas, who shares a decorated history with Alonso from their time representing Spain, expressed confidence in Alonso’s coaching abilities. The former Chelsea midfielder remarked:
“He’s experienced success and understands the standards expected at Liverpool. The fans adore him, and he possesses strong coaching acumen. He’s innovative in his approach.”
Reflecting on Alonso’s coaching journey from Real Sociedad B to Bayer Leverkusen, Fabregas noted his adaptability and tactical acumen:
“He’s demonstrated versatility and the ability to tailor strategies to his squad. Despite his youth, he exudes clarity of vision, intelligence, and composure. These attributes position him well for the Liverpool job.”
Fabregas also acknowledged other potential candidates like Brighton & Hove Albion’s Roberto De Zerbi but endorsed Alonso as a viable choice for the role.
