Felipe Lobo had a ringside view of his upcoming opponent’s final performance of 2023 at ONE Fight Night 16 in November.
The bantamweight Muay Thai contender observed from the corner of Fabricio Andrade as the MMA specialist fell short against Jonathan Haggerty.
In the process, the Brit claimed the vacant kickboxing title and delivered a remarkable knockout victory over ‘Wonder Boy,’ securing his status as a two-sport world champion.
Following the fight, the champion and Lobo had an encounter that paved the way for the first defense of his Muay Thai title, scheduled for ONE Fight Night 19 on February 16.
Reflecting on this experience, Lobo believes he learned valuable lessons about what he needs to do to dethrone ‘The General’ when they both return to the iconic Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
He shared with ONE Championship that he understood backing up and allowing his opponent to control the pace won’t be beneficial in this fight:
“In that bout, I noticed that Haggerty was far more active than Fabricio. Fabricio focused more on defensive tactics and counterattacks, which ultimately didn’t work out. I believe I need to take the opposite approach.”
