Russian tennis sensation Andrey Rublev opened up about his inner feelings, likening himself to “a kid” and admitting to possessing the mindset of a “junior” player.

Rublev’s remarkable performance this season, including clinching the Hong Kong Open title and advancing to the Australian Open quarterfinals, has garnered attention.

His latest victory at the ABN AMRO Open’s first round in Rotterdam against Zizou Bergs secured his place in the next round, where he is set to face Felix Auger-Aliassime, a rival he has previously dominated in their head-to-head encounters.

While Rublev’s intensity on the court often manifests in outbursts and confrontations with officials, off-court, he presents a contrasting demeanor characterized by composure and philanthropic endeavors. In a recent interview with Tennis TV, Rublev admitted to still feeling the carefree spirit of a teenager deep within, despite his professional stature.

“I hope, I would like to because mentally I feel still 16. So I don’t feel myself. I still feel like, I’m like a kid,” Rublev shared, illustrating his youthful perspective. When prompted by the interviewer about his athletic physique, Rublev humorously continued, “and the mentality of junior, yes [laughs]. Yes exactly.”
