Jose Iglesias and Harrison Bader both hit two home runs each as the New York Mets, who are on a winning streak, narrowly defeated the Colorado Rockies 7-6 on Friday night.

Mark Vientos also hit a home run and added an RBI double for the Mets, who have been playing well at home recently against teams like the Nationals and Rockies. New York has won six of their last seven games and has turned around their season since early June when they were struggling.

“It’s been impressive how we’ve bounced back,” Bader commented. “This team is hungry, and we’re performing well in all aspects of the game.”

The Mets’ strong hitting delighted the crowd at Citi Field, where they play Jose Iglesias’ song “OMG” after each home run. Iglesias was surprised and thrilled when his music video played on the stadium’s big screen.

“I was completely caught off guard,” Iglesias said. “It was a really cool moment.”

Sean Manaea pitched effectively for the Mets, throwing 74 strikes out of 107 pitches over seven innings and striking out nine batters. He earned his third consecutive win.

“It’s encouraging to see him go deep into the game,” manager Carlos Mendoza noted. “He’s in a good place mentally and physically.”

Although the Mets had a comfortable lead when Manaea left the game, their bullpen struggled to maintain it. The Rockies managed to narrow the gap with home runs from Charlie Blackmon and Brenton Doyle in the late innings.

In a crucial defensive play, Iglesias made a spectacular diving catch at third base to save a hard-hit line drive from Elias Díaz.

Edwin Díaz eventually closed the game, working around some late-game drama with walks to secure his 10th save of the season. He struck out Ezequiel Tovar with two runners on base to end the game.
