The Netherlands had a slow start but turned things around in the second half against Scotland, winning their friendly match 4-0 in Amsterdam on Friday.
The Dutch team scored their first goal after 40 minutes with a long-range shot from Tijjani Reijnders. Georginio Wijnaldum added another goal in the 72nd minute with a header from Cody Gakpo’s cross.
In the later part of the game, substitute Wout Weghorst scored a third goal with a header in the 84th minute, followed by Donyell Malen’s goal two minutes later, making it 4-0 for the Netherlands.
Despite Scotland’s efforts and hitting the woodwork twice, they missed crucial chances to score. Mark Flekken’s save touched Ryan Christie’s header onto the crossbar, and Lawrence Shankland missed a clear opportunity to score when facing the goalkeeper.
Looking ahead, Scotland will face Germany in the opening match of the European Championship in Munich on June 14. Meanwhile, the Netherlands is grouped with France, Austria, and the winner of the Poland-Wales playoff in Group D.
