La Liga president Javier Tebas has shared his perspective on the situation involving Mason Greenwood, the Manchester United attacker currently on loan at Getafe.

Tebas expressed his desire for Greenwood to extend his stay in Spain beyond his loan period, emphasizing his satisfaction with the player’s performance and dismissing any lingering legal concerns:

“As a lawyer myself, if someone has been cleared of legal charges, there’s nothing more to discuss. He’s been performing exceptionally well as a player, and I hope he continues to contribute to Spanish football. That’s beneficial for all of us.”

Regarding the legal aspects of Greenwood’s case, Tebas emphasized the importance of respecting legal proceedings and decisions:

“We must respect the legal process. Despite any public condemnation, it’s essential to honor the outcome of the legal proceedings. Since Greenwood was not convicted in Spain, there’s no further discussion needed.”

Mason Greenwood

Greenwood’s absence from Manchester United stemmed from allegations of assault made by his partner in January 2022. He remained sidelined until the case was dismissed in February 2023. Despite being cleared, he faced an internal investigation from Manchester United and was not featured for the club for the remainder of the 2022-23 season.

Subsequently, Manchester United opted to loan Greenwood to Getafe, where he has excelled, tallying seven goals and five assists in 25 appearances across various competitions.

The future trajectory of Greenwood’s career hinges on the decisions of the new Manchester United owner, Sir Jim Ratcliffe. Following his acquisition of the club, Ratcliffe hinted at revisiting Greenwood’s situation, leaving open the possibility of a return to Manchester United for the talented attacker.
