Chelsea faced another setback in their unpredictable season on Saturday when they were held to a 2-2 draw at home by 10-man Burnley, who are still struggling near the bottom of the Premier League.
Chelsea seemed to have control despite Burnley going down to 10 men after Lorenz Assignon received a second yellow card for a foul on Mykhailo Mudryk. They took the lead when Cole Palmer converted a penalty just before halftime.
However, Josh Cullen surprised everyone by equalizing for Burnley just two minutes into the second half with a great shot from outside the penalty area.
Although Chelsea struggled to capitalize on their numerical advantage, they managed to go ahead again in the 78th minute with another goal from Palmer.
But Burnley fought back and leveled the score again in the 81st minute when Dara O’Shea scored from a corner.
The draw meant Chelsea remained in 11th place in the Premier League table, while Burnley stayed in 19th position, trailing 17th-placed Nottingham Forest by four points.
