Anthony Davis scored 23 points and grabbed 19 rebounds, while D’Angelo Russell set a record for the Lakers by making the most 3-pointers in a single season during their 101-94 win over the Philadelphia 76ers on Friday night.

LeBron James contributed 20 points, eight rebounds, and six assists as the Lakers ended a seven-game losing streak against the Sixers. This was their first win against Philadelphia since March 3, 2020.

Both James and Davis stepped up in the fourth quarter, combining for 20 points to secure the victory for the Lakers. Despite committing 21 turnovers, the Lakers managed to hold off the Sixers’ challenge.

Russell broke the Lakers’ record for 3-pointers early in the game, surpassing Nick Van Exel’s mark set in the 1994-95 season. He finished the game with 14 points and four 3-pointers, helping the Lakers secure their seventh win in 11 games.

The Lakers struggled offensively after a three-day break, but they managed to make crucial plays down the stretch. Tyrese Maxey led the Sixers with 27 points, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the Lakers’ defense.

Philadelphia coach Nick Nurse praised his team’s effort but lamented their inability to generate enough offense. Despite missing Joel Embiid, the Sixers fought hard, with Tobias Harris contributing 16 points and 13 rebounds in his return from injury.

Russell, who previously played for the Lakers before returning last season, has been instrumental in their recent success. Spencer Dinwiddie also made significant contributions with 11 points, including three 3-pointers.

The Lakers were without Taurean Prince for personal reasons in the game.
