Inter Miami CF announced today that they have signed goalkeeper Rocco Ríos Novo, who was claimed through Major League Soccer’s waiver process. Ríos Novo will join the team on a one-year loan from Argentine club Club Atlético Lanús through the 2025 MLS season.
There is an option to make the transfer permanent at the end of the loan. The Argentine-American goalkeeper strengthens the team’s goalkeeping options ahead of the upcoming season, pending the receipt of his International Transfer Certificate (ITC).
“We’re excited to add a young and talented goalkeeper like Ríos Novo to our team. His arrival adds depth to our goalkeeping department and will strengthen our squad as we prepare for a busy 2025 season with several domestic and international competitions,” said Raúl Sanllehí, President of Football Operations.
“I’m excited to join a great club like Inter Miami and continue my growth as a professional. I’m ready to work hard and contribute to the team’s success in the 2025 season,” said Ríos Novo.
Ríos Novo, 22, comes to Inter Miami after spending the last two seasons with Phoenix Rising in the USL Championship, on loan from Lanús. Throughout his career, he has played in various competitions in the United States, including MLS, USL Championship, and the CONCACAF Champions Cup.
Born in Los Angeles with Argentine roots, Ríos Novo began his career in the youth system at Lanús. At 18, he was loaned to Atlanta United 2, where he eventually made his MLS debut. During his time with Atlanta United, he played over 1,500 minutes in 18 matches, recording two clean sheets.
After his time in MLS, Ríos Novo moved to Phoenix Rising, where he spent the past two years gaining valuable experience. In Phoenix, he made 87 appearances and helped the team win the 2023 USL Championship.
On the international stage, Ríos Novo has represented Argentina at various youth levels. Most recently, he was part of the squad selected by Inter Miami’s new head coach, Javier Mascherano, for the 2024 CONMEBOL Pre-Olympic Tournament. Ríos Novo was also part of the team that won the 2019 South American U-17 Championship.
