Lionel Messi is set to return to Inter Miami’s lineup after recovering from a hamstring injury. He is expected to play in Saturday’s MLS match against the Colorado Rapids at home. The team announced his return in a social media post on Friday.
Messi has been sidelined for the last four games, including a recent loss against Monterrey in the CONCACAF Champions Cup quarterfinals.
Tensions rose after the physical game, leading to a postgame confrontation involving Messi and other players from both teams. Despite finishing the game with a player down, Inter Miami is focused on the upcoming second leg against Monterrey.
The second leg match is scheduled for Wednesday, and Messi is likely to be available for selection. He hasn’t played since March 13 and missed Argentina’s friendly matches last month.
However, he participated in training with Inter Miami on Friday and continues to show improvement.
