Inter Miami CF announced today that it has signed defender Gonzalo Luján from Argentine top-tier team Club Atlético San Lorenzo de Almagro. Luján has signed a contract that runs through the 2027 Major League Soccer (MLS) season, with a club option for the 2028 season.

The versatile defender, who can play both as a center-back and fullback, will strengthen the team’s defense ahead of the 2025 season, pending receipt of his P-1 Visa and International Transfer Certificate (ITC).

Luján joins Inter Miami with a solid amount of experience for his age, having played in major club tournaments like the CONMEBOL Copa Libertadores and CONMEBOL Copa Sudamericana. He has also competed for Argentina’s U-23 national team in the 2024 Paris Summer Olympic Games under the management of current Inter Miami head coach Javier Mascherano.

“Adding a young and versatile defender like Gonzalo Luján is a key move for the upcoming 2025 season. He will bring depth to our First Team squad and strengthen our defense, and his ability to play in multiple positions on the backline will be a valuable asset,” said President of Football Operations Raúl Sanllehí.

Luján, 23, arrives at Inter Miami from the Argentine club Club Atlético San Lorenzo, where he began his career and spent his entire professional journey so far. He made his professional debut in 2021 and went on to make 97 appearances for San Lorenzo across all competitions, including seven matches in the prestigious CONMEBOL Copa Libertadores and eight in the CONMEBOL Copa Sudamericana, during which he also registered an assist.

The Buenos Aires native has also gained international experience, representing Argentina’s U-23 national team. He notably played in the 2024 CONMEBOL Pre-olympic Tournament and the 2024 Paris Summer Olympic Games under Mascherano’s coaching. Luján also played alongside his new Inter Miami teammate Federico Redondo on Argentina’s U-23 team.
