Sports Betting in Missouri attains illegal status as of 8th July 2023. Despite various attempts to pass numerous sport betting bills in previous years being shot down, Missouri lawmakers came back stronger at the beginning of this year, proposing different variants of the sports betting bills.

May 11th, 2023: Rep. Denny Hoskins, the man in charge of not allowing the legalization of sports betting, stated that there were only 2 ways to pass the bill in this session: An amendment to the current bill or a new bill with VLT’s (Video Lottery Terminals)
May 12th, 2023: The Missouri legislation was adjourned without passing the sports betting bill.
May 29th, 2023: Kansas City Royals voiced their support for the passing of the sports betting bill.
June 7th, 2023: Rep. Denny Hoskins is eyeing a different position in the government which could make the passing of the sports betting bill easier.
When will sports betting be legalized and launched in Missouri?
Missouri is surrounded by eight states, 5 of which have legalized sports betting and 1 of which has passed the bill in its legislation. This sort of pressure could result in Missouri legalizing sports betting soon.
That being said, the public doesn’t expect it to happen until late 2023, with sports betting platforms being launched not before 2024.
Legal sport betting options in Missouri
There are currently no legal sports betting options for the residents of Missouri. The state legalized betting on horse races that took place on a track in 1984, but since there are no racetracks in Missouri, there is also no betting on horse races.
