Former Manchester United striker Teddy Sheringham has shared his thoughts ahead of the upcoming Manchester Derby on Sunday, March 3. United is set to face off against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium, a match that could significantly impact both teams’ standings in the Premier League this season.

Pep Guardiola’s City squad is embroiled in a thrilling three-way title race with Liverpool and Arsenal, trailing Klopp’s side by a mere point while holding a one-point lead over Arteta’s team.

On the other hand, Manchester United currently sits in sixth place with just 44 points from 26 league matches. Despite a string of four consecutive league victories, they stumbled to a 1-2 defeat against Fulham last week and must bounce back to climb the league table.

Sheringham, who enjoyed a successful four-year tenure with Manchester United, winning seven trophies, acknowledged that Manchester derbies are typically tightly contested affairs. However, he conceded that City is currently superior to his former club both in terms of quality and style of play.

Speaking to talkSPORT, the former England international remarked:

“At the moment, it doesn’t look like that to me and going into the game this weekend against Man City, I think sometimes when you’re playing in a Manchester derby it could go either way. But when you’re playing against City and they dictate play for so long, I think they’re gonna wear Man United down, it could be a drubbing the way I see it.”

Manchester City emerged victorious in the reverse fixture at Old Trafford last October, securing a convincing 3-0 win with Erling Haaland netting a brace and Phil Foden adding another goal.
