Bayern Munich’s Joshua Kimmich has singled out former Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata as the toughest opponent he has ever faced. Despite encountering football legends like Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Kylian Mbappe, and Neymar, Kimmich insists that Morata posed the greatest challenge.

According to Kimmich, Morata’s blend of strength, technique, and pace made him a formidable threat on the pitch. Reflecting on their encounters, Kimmich remarked, “It was very tough to play against him because he has a very strong body, he is very fast and has a good technique. It wasn’t easy to play against him.”

Their paths crossed three times, with Kimmich experiencing one victory and three draws against Morata. Their meetings occurred twice during the 2015-16 UEFA Champions League when Morata represented Juventus and once during the 2022 World Cup, where Morata managed to score once and provide two assists.

While Morata exhibited early signs of becoming a standout striker, he has faced challenges in fully realizing his potential. Despite this, he has carved out a respectable career, albeit with stints at various clubs without prolonged stability.

Beginning his journey with Atletico Madrid, Getafe, and Real Madrid’s youth setups, Morata progressed to the senior ranks at Real Madrid before embarking on a journey that saw him play for Juventus, return to Real Madrid, and endure a less successful stint with Chelsea in the Premier League.

Morata’s time at Chelsea, marked by a club-record transfer fee, yielded modest returns with 24 goals in 72 appearances, alongside six assists. However, his international career with Spain has flourished, with 34 goals in 69 caps, earning him the captaincy of La Roja.
