Jake Paul, the former YouTuber who transitioned into professional boxing, is set to take on former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson in a highly anticipated boxing match on July 20 at AT&T Stadium in Dallas, as announced by Most Valuable Promotions, Paul’s emerging promotional company on Thursday.

The bout, hyped as a “heavyweight boxing mega event,” will be available for live-streaming exclusively on Netflix.

Paul, aged 27, secured his ninth professional victory just this past Saturday by delivering a knockout blow to Ryan Bourland in the opening round. This marked Paul’s 10th professional fight since his debut in 2020, notably making his second professional appearance on the undercard of Tyson’s exhibition match against Roy Jones Jr.

Reflecting on his journey, Paul remarked, “It’s surreal to think that I garnered viral attention for knocking out Nate Robinson on Mike Tyson’s undercard in only my second pro fight.” He continued, “Now, less than four years later, I’m stepping into the ring to face Tyson himself, testing my mettle against one of boxing’s most iconic and formidable figures.”

Tyson, aged 57, has been absent from competitive boxing since the exhibition bout with Jones. His last professional fight dates back to 2005 when he suffered a knockout defeat to Kevin McBride.

Throughout his illustrious career, Tyson garnered a formidable 50–6 record, with an impressive 44 victories coming by way of knockout. In recognition of his achievements, Tyson was rightfully inducted into the Boxing Hall of Fame in 2011.

Expressing his anticipation for the match, Tyson stated, “I’m eagerly anticipating the showdown with Jake Paul at the AT&T Stadium. He has exhibited notable growth as a boxer over the years, and it will be intriguing to witness the determination and skill of a young contender against the experience and prowess of a legend.

It’s a moment of full circle; I introduced him to the boxing world on the undercard of my bout with Roy Jones, and now I aim to conclude the chapter.”

This event marks Netflix’s latest venture into live sports, adding to its diverse content offerings. With over 260 million global subscribers, Netflix recently streamed a live tennis match featuring Rafael Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz, and prior to that, hosted the Netflix Cup, a golf event held in Las Vegas.
