2024 Australian Open champion Jannik Sinner recently shared his decision to distance himself from social media platforms.

Sinner secured his first Grand Slam victory on January 28th at the Rod Laver Arena, overcoming Daniil Medvedev in a thrilling final with a 3-6, 3-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-3 comeback.

Upon returning to Italy after his triumph, the 22-year-old visited Rome’s Colosseum for a media briefing. During the press interaction, Sinner cautioned young people against excessive social media use.

“I tell the kids to be careful because maybe today someone is sick but on social media, people post photos where everything is fine,” he said (via Rai News 24).

Sinner emphasized that social media often portrays a distorted reality and expressed his preference for spending less time online.

“I personally live better without social media and I will continue to do so. I don’t like social media. It’s not the truth. You see certain things but they’re not those,” the Italian added.

Jannik Sinner shared his thoughts on his debut Grand Slam title during a recent press briefing, describing it as a significant milestone in his burgeoning career.

Speaking at the Colosseum in Rome, Sinner emphasized the importance of his Australian Open victory for both himself and his team.

“I’m happy to share so many emotions with all of you but there is not just one tournament, there are many. We have a lot of chances to do well, but also to do badly. We have to be ready but happy with this situation, this milestone is important for me and my team,” he said.

Sinner has been under the guidance of former tennis professional Darren Cahill since July 2022. Cahill, who has previously coached three Grand Slam champions – Lleyton Hewitt, Andre Agassi, and Simona Halep, brings invaluable expertise to Sinner’s camp. Additionally, former player Simone Vagnozzi is also part of the Italian’s coaching team.

The 22-year-old reiterated that his victory in Melbourne has not altered his personality and expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support from his fans.

“You can feel the warmth of the people, I like it. But as a guy, I’m like two weeks ago, simple and normal,” Jannik Sinner added.
