Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones spoke candidly about quarterback Dak Prescott’s contract negotiations with beat reporters on Friday, emphasizing his open-mindedness until the two parties resolve.
At 81 years old, Jones remains unreserved in discussing the team’s internal affairs, indicating a continued willingness to engage with the media despite past criticisms. However, publicizing contract negotiations involving a quarterback is questionable.
“We don’t need to [extend Prescott’s deal], but we can if everybody wants to solve it,” Jones remarked, as quoted by Nick Harris of the team’s website. “You can get in and get on the same page and see if you can agree.
“If you can’t, what we have in place works. And so obviously, if you do it one way, you’ll be working through some of the other areas on the team differently, but you can’t plan on that until you see when you’re there.”
