Haason Reddick, the New York Jets’ holdout pass rusher, has switched representation to Drew Rosenhaus and Ryan Matha after being dropped by his previous agency, CAA. Reddick, who has been holding out for a long-term contract extension, is the NFL’s last remaining holdout this season.

Rosenhaus has already begun talks with the Jets and expressed optimism about resolving the situation, stating that Reddick wants to remain with the Jets long-term. The star pass rusher had previously requested a trade in August, which the Jets have refused to entertain.

Reddick’s new agents are expected to negotiate further with Jets officials during Monday night’s game against the Buffalo Bills. Despite the ongoing holdout, Reddick, 30, remains a key player for the Jets, who traded for him in March. Since joining the team from the Philadelphia Eagles, Reddick has skipped all team events, which has cost him nearly $10 million in fines and forfeited salary. The holdout took an unexpected turn when CAA, his former agency, dropped him, which led to the hiring of Rosenhaus and Matha.

Reddick’s standoff has been unusual, partly due to public comments from Jets owner Woody Johnson, who last week urged Reddick to end his holdout. Johnson made an appeal for the pass rusher to drive to the Jets’ training facility, ensuring him that he would be welcomed warmly. Reddick’s proximity to the facility in Camden, New Jersey, only adds to the odd nature of the holdout. While Johnson remains optimistic, Reddick’s refusal to participate in team activities continues.

The crux of the issue lies in Reddick’s desire for a long-term deal. He has one year remaining on his contract with a $14.25 million base salary, which is not guaranteed. With 50.5 sacks over the past four seasons, Reddick is seeking compensation that aligns with the league’s top pass rushers. The Jets offered an extension at the time of his trade, but Reddick quickly rejected it, feeling that he had been promised a better deal. This misunderstanding has led to a prolonged standoff.

If Reddick does not report to the team by Week 13, the Jets could retain his rights through 2025 instead of him becoming a free agent. This scenario arose after the Jets lost another key pass rusher, Bryce Huff, to the Eagles in free agency. Reddick was acquired in exchange for a conditional 2026 third-round pick, but if he continues to hold out, the Jets could retain control over his future for an additional season, adding further complexity to an already tense situation.
