Jimmy Butler couldn’t play in Miami’s game against Golden State on Tuesday night. This marked the 22nd time this season that Butler wasn’t able to play. He wasn’t feeling well and missed the team’s morning practice because of an illness that wasn’t related to COVID-19.
Later, he was marked as uncertain to play, but then it was decided that he wouldn’t be able to participate about two hours before the game started. Miami’s next game is against Portland on Friday.
Butler is Miami’s top scorer, averaging 21.4 points per game. Tyler Herro, the team’s second-highest scorer with an average of 20.8 points per game, also couldn’t play.
Herro has missed the last 16 games due to a knee injury and then a foot problem.
Kevin Love, who has been recovering from a sore heel, missed his 14th consecutive game. Duncan Robinson, known for his 3-point shooting, missed his fourth game in a row due to a back issue.
For Golden State, forward Trayce Jackson-Davis wasn’t able to play due to soreness in his right knee. Coach Steve Kerr hoped that Jackson-Davis would be back for Wednesday’s game against Orlando.
