Josh Jacobs has achieved a lot in his NFL career, but there’s one notable gap in his achievements.
In his time with the Raiders spanning five seasons, Jacobs caught 197 passes, gaining 1,448 yards from those receptions. However, he hasn’t scored a touchdown with any of those catches. This puts Jacobs on the brink of potentially setting an NFL record early in his tenure with the Packers.
Former NFL running back Gerald Riggs holds the record with 201 career receptions without a touchdown. Jacobs and Riggs are the only players in NFL history to catch more than 146 passes without scoring a touchdown.
Packers quarterback Jordan Love is determined to ensure Jacobs doesn’t break Riggs’ record. “No, that’s not going to happen,” Love stated in a Bleacher Report interview.
“I noticed the other day that Josh hasn’t scored a touchdown yet. I sent him a message saying, ‘Bro, we’re going to get you a touchdown, for sure.’ The first pass to him might end up being a touchdown, who knows? We’ll see.
He’s only five receptions away from it, so we’ll make sure he gets that touchdown.”
Aaron Jones, the Packers’ lead back last season, averaged 2.7 catches per game. Love and Jacobs may need to connect early to ensure Jacobs scores a touchdown before the opportunity slips away.
