Aaron Judge hit his 28th home run of the season, leading the New York Yankees to an 8-3 victory over the Atlanta Braves on Saturday night. The win ended the Yankees’ three-game losing streak. Meanwhile, Giancarlo Stanton injured his left hamstring during the game.
Judge contributed three RBIs, bringing his season total to 70, the highest in the major leagues. Juan Soto also had a strong game, reaching base four times with a single and three walks. Pitcher Marcus Stroman earned his fifth win in six decisions.
The Yankees, who have the best record in the majors at 52-27, had struggled recently, losing five of their last six games by a significant margin (outscored 51-23).
Reflecting on the win, Judge emphasized the importance of bouncing back after a tough stretch: “It’s just one game, but that’s what we’ve got to do. Any time you hit a couple of tough skids right there, you’ve got to understand it’s a long season but every game matters.”
Stanton contributed with a double in the fourth inning but appeared to injure his hamstring while running the bases later in the game. He was replaced in the sixth inning due to tightness in his hamstring, and the team announced he would undergo imaging the following day.
Manager Aaron Boone expressed hope that Stanton’s injury wouldn’t keep him out for long, noting his positive attitude despite previous injury challenges: “He’s in pretty good spirits. Obviously, he’s dealt with this kind of things in the past. So, hopefully, it’s not something that keeps him down too long.”
Stanton had arrived at spring training in better physical condition after a history of injuries that limited his play over the past few seasons. Despite his setbacks, he had played in 69 of the Yankees’ first 79 games this season, hitting .246 with 18 home runs and 45 RBIs.
