Cagliari managed to score two penalty goals in the first half, but Juventus equalized with a late own goal, resulting in a 2-2 draw in an exciting Serie A match on Friday.
Gianluca Gaetano put Cagliari ahead after 30 minutes, followed by Yerry Mina scoring another penalty six minutes later.
Despite Juventus having a goal disallowed in the first half, Dušan Vlahović managed to score with a free kick in the 61st minute.
Just when Cagliari seemed poised for victory and to move away from the relegation zone, Alberto Dossena’s own goal in the final minutes leveled the score.
Juventus currently trails second-placed AC Milan by five points and leader Inter Milan by 19 points. Their recent league form has seen them win only one of their last seven matches.
Cagliari sits five points clear of relegation but faces a tough battle to stay up. With only a six-point gap separating the 19th-placed Sassuolo from the 13th-placed Lecce, the fight for survival remains intense.
Elsewhere, Luis Alberto’s second-half goal secured a 1-0 victory for Lazio against Genoa, propelling them to sixth place in the standings and within reach of a Champions League qualification spot.
The defeat ended Genoa’s four-game unbeaten streak and marked another successful outing for Lazio, who have won four of their last five league matches. Lazio now sits just one point ahead of Atalanta, who have two games in hand.
Securing a top-five spot in Serie A guarantees qualification for the next season’s expanded 36-team Champions League. However, sixth place could also be sufficient if Roma or Atalanta win the Europa League.
Genoa remains in 10th position in the league standings.
