Dale Coyne Racing (DCR) has confirmed Katherine Legge for its Honda-powered No. 51 entry in partnership with Rick Ware Racing for the upcoming Indianapolis 500, marking her fourth attempt at the prestigious event. Legge, motivated for redemption after a disappointing outing last year with Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing that ended prematurely due to a crash, set impressive qualification speeds in 2023.

Expressing her eagerness for another chance at “The Greatest Spectacle in Racing,” Legge acknowledged the support of e.l.f., the first beauty primary sponsor in IndyCar. She emphasized her desire for another opportunity at Indy and the importance of redemption after the setback of the previous year.

Shortly after Legge’s announcement for DCR’s Indy 500 effort, Gradient Racing revealed her removal from its GTD lineup in the IMSA SportsCar Championship. When questioned about this change, Legge hinted at upcoming announcements regarding more IndyCar opportunities and explained the separation with Gradient Racing, citing financial reasons.

While Legge hasn’t raced regularly in IndyCar since 2012, she hinted at potential future races, possibly with DCR, indicating ongoing discussions and a possibility of expanding her schedule. Legge expressed familiarity and appreciation for the DCR team, having previously driven for them during the 2007 season in Champ Car, where she achieved notable successes.

Legge’s latest IndyCar endeavor is made possible by e.l.f. Cosmetics, which has increased its support from an associate sponsor to a primary sponsor. Legge highlighted the significance of e.l.f.’s commitment to empowering women and showcasing female talent, emphasizing the impact of their partnership and the opportunity to make history together.
