Phoenix forward Kevin Durant did not play in the second half of the Suns’ 104-93 win over the San Antonio Spurs on Tuesday after injuring his left ankle.
Durant hurt his ankle when he stepped on the foot of San Antonio’s Julian Champagnie while preparing to take a shot with 4:30 left in the second quarter. He left the game 39 seconds later.
Suns coach Mike Budenholzer said after the game that it was too early to tell if Durant would miss more time.
“He stepped on somebody’s foot in transition, and at halftime it stiffened up,” Budenholzer said. “We’ll have to evaluate him in the morning and see how he feels, see how he does overnight.”
Durant scored 13 points in just over 16 minutes before leaving the game.
Durant had just returned on November 26 after recovering from a left calf strain. Phoenix is 11-2 in games that Durant plays and 1-6 when he is out this season.
The 36-year-old is averaging 25.8 points and 6.7 rebounds in 13 games this season.
The Suns will begin a three-game road trip on Thursday against the New Orleans Pelicans.
