Khamzat Chimaev has responded to Kamaru Usman’s recent assertion that he’s “nothing special” in the cage. The remarks stem from their middleweight bout at UFC 294 last October, where Usman suffered a majority decision loss against the undefeated Chimaev.
With this defeat, Usman, aged 36, now has three consecutive losses in the cage. On the “Pound 4 Pound” podcast with Henry Cejudo, Usman was asked about Chimaev’s abilities, to which he expressed his thoughts candidly.
Usman suggested that there was nothing particularly extraordinary about Chimaev’s performance, stating that in the heat of the fight, he realized Chimaev didn’t possess any unique qualities he hadn’t encountered before. Usman reflected on moments during the fight where he doubted himself but ultimately regretted not giving himself enough credit.
Don’t talk too much musman you’re lost 🤫
This people are proud of their losses. Wtf 😂 pic.twitter.com/Y9pdm5yjat— Khamzat Chimaev (@KChimaev) March 15, 2024
Chimaev, however, didn’t take Usman’s comments lightly and fired back on social media, implying that Usman talks too much considering his recent loss.
In his tweet, Chimaev wrote, “Don’t talk too much musman you’re lost 🤫 This people are proud of their losses. Wtf 😂” indicating his disagreement with Usman’s perspective.
As of now, neither Chimaev nor Usman have confirmed their next opponents or return dates to the Octagon.
