Jalen Brunson scored 26 points and had nine assists, while Josh Hart contributed 23 points and 13 rebounds, leading the New York Knicks to a 108-85 win over the Orlando Magic on Friday night.
Brunson made 11 of 21 shots, helping the Knicks beat the Magic for the third time this month. He had 21 points in New York’s 121-106 win on Dec. 3 and 31 points in a 100-91 win on Dec. 15 in Florida. Hart made 7 of 11 shots from the floor.
The Knicks outscored Orlando 54-31 in the second half, extending their season-high winning streak to six games.
Mikal Bridges followed his season-high 41-point performance in a 117-114 win over the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday with 17 points on Friday. Karl-Anthony Towns added 16 points and eight rebounds for New York, which shot an impressive 53.3 percent from the floor despite a poor 70.6 percent from the free-throw line.
The Knicks also dominated in the paint, outscoring Orlando 60-34, and had a 21-2 advantage in fast-break points.
Jalen Suggs led Orlando with 27 points, and Goga Bitadze added 14 points and 11 rebounds. The Magic have lost five of their last seven games.
Kentavious Caldwell-Pope tied the game at 65-65 with a driving layup, but the Knicks responded with a 26-9 run bridging the third and fourth quarters.
Hart’s tip-in at the buzzer gave the Knicks a 76-68 lead at the end of the third. He then added a three-point play and a 3-pointer during New York’s 9-2 run early in the fourth quarter.
Brunson finished the run with a finger roll layup with 7:52 left in the game. The Knicks stretched their lead to 104-80 after Towns’ 3-pointer and free throws from Miles McBride, effectively sealing the victory.
Orlando’s Gary Harris, returning after missing 13 games due to a left hamstring strain, scored two points in 15 minutes of play.
