WWE, led by Triple H’s creative direction, has seen a resurgence in fan interest, marking a significant upturn in the product’s popularity. Recently, Konnan shared his insights on the return of a beloved team to the company, attributing their resurgence to a former World Champion.
In 2022, Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson made their comeback to WWE, reuniting with AJ Styles to reform The O.C. and engage in a heated rivalry with The Judgment Day.
However, the group’s momentum took a hit when AJ Styles suffered an injury towards the end of the year, leading to The O.C. being put on hiatus until the WWE Draft in 2023. Konnan expressed his belief that the company has not fully capitalized on the potential of the former two-time RAW Tag Team Champions.
Speaking on Keeping It 100, the seasoned wrestling veteran suggested that Triple H may have rehired the accomplished duo upon AJ Styles’ request, given their close bond outside the ring:
“I just feel like they’ve never really trusted or invested in them like they should. And he says here something, like, Yeah, what did they bring them back for? To bury them again? Maybe AJ [Styles] said, Hey, can you bring my boys back? and he got enough juice to do that, and maybe him getting slapped might have AJ team up with somebody else against them.”
Konnan also speculated on the possibility of AJ Styles engaging in a future feud with Anderson and Gallows, hinting at potential storyline developments in the near future.
