Lamar Jackson is not focused on MVP talk. The Baltimore Ravens quarterback told reporters on Thursday that he is concentrating on helping his team win a Super Bowl rather than chasing personal awards.

“I really don’t care about the hype,” Jackson said, according to ESPN’s Jamison Hensley. “I’m not going to dwell on an MVP trophy, or anything like that. I never have. Even when I won it, I never dwelled on it. It was about me just trying to win each and every game I’m in. And same thing from now, I’m still trying to win these games to get to February and win in February.”

At 27 years old, he recently won his second MVP award in 2023, leading the Ravens to the best record in the AFC at 13-4. However, one of the few downsides on Jackson’s record is his playoff performance.

He has a record of just 2-4 in six playoff games. The Ravens’ 2023 season ended in the AFC Championship Game, where they lost to the Kansas City Chiefs with a score of 17-10.

The Ravens began their 2024 season poorly, losing their first two games. However, they bounced back with Jackson’s impressive play, winning four straight games to take the lead in the AFC North.

During that four-game stretch, he completed 70.3 percent of his passes for 1,009 yards and eight touchdowns, with only one interception. Jackson also added 236 rushing yards and two more touchdowns.

“I just feel like everything is slowing down even more,” Jackson said, according to Hensley. “Just from the [seven] years I’ve been in the league and seeing all types of defenses, seeing all types of blitzes. Everything is just second nature right now.”

If he can help the Ravens keep winning while performing well both as a passer and a runner, he will be a strong candidate for MVP for the third time in his career. However, Jackson has made it clear that his main focus is on making the playoffs and succeeding there.
