Raiders wide receiver Jakobi Meyers was listed as doubtful on Saturday due to an ankle injury, which makes their receiver situation even more challenging as Las Vegas gets ready to face the Pittsburgh Steelers.
If Meyers can’t play on Sunday, the Raiders will be missing their top two receivers. No. 1 receiver Davante Adams will be out for his third straight game because of a hamstring injury.
Meyers has stepped up as the main receiver for the last two weeks, being targeted 19 times and catching 11 passes for 121 yards.
Tre Tucker, known for his speed that helps stretch the field, might become the main target this week. He has 18 catches for 190 yards and one touchdown.
Brock Bowers, who leads all tight ends with 28 receptions for 313 yards, is expected to take on an even bigger role.
This situation presents a challenge for Aidan O’Connell, who was named the starting quarterback this week. Gardner Minshew, who started the first five games, was replaced on Wednesday.
O’Connell took over as starter midway through last season and led the Raiders to a 5-4 record after that, but he had more options available then.
Las Vegas will also face a Steelers team that is becoming a bit healthier with the return of running back Jaylen Warren, who missed the last two games due to a knee injury.
Warren, who backs up Najee Harris, has rushed for 54 yards on 14 carries.
