Lawson Crouse scored twice, including the game-winner, and Clayton Keller added a goal and an assist to help the Utah Hockey Club defeat the Calgary Flames 5-3 on Thursday.
Logan Cooley and Kevin Stenlund also scored for Utah, and Olli Maatta had two assists. Goaltender Karel Vejmelka made 23 saves. Utah ended a five-game losing streak with the win.
Blake Coleman recorded a goal and an assist for Calgary, while Connor Zary and Brayden Pachal also scored. Goalie Dan Vladar stopped 21 shots and saved a penalty shot by Alex Kerfoot in the third period.
Utah came back in the third period after trailing 3-2. Keller tied the game just 37 seconds into the period by redirecting Maatta’s shot-pass. Crouse scored his second of the game at 2:35 on a partial breakaway to give Utah the lead.
Stenlund sealed the win with an empty-net goal at the one-minute mark.
The game saw both teams trade goals. Utah scored first with Crouse’s goal at 8:51 after a good play along the boards in Calgary’s zone. Coleman tied it for Calgary with a power-play goal with under a minute left in the first period.
Cooley put Utah ahead again in the second period with a power-play goal, but Calgary responded quickly. Zary scored 67 seconds later after a shot deflected off his foot. Pachal then gave Calgary their first lead at 15:14 of the second period with a shot from the slot.
Despite leading after two periods, Calgary couldn’t hold on and lost in regulation for the first time this season when leading after two periods.
