The Los Angeles Lakers have been strong at home to start the 2024-25 season, and they tested their undefeated home record when they faced the Toronto Raptors.
The Raptors came into the game as heavy underdogs, playing the second game of a back-to-back, but they played aggressively in the first half. Toronto controlled both ends of the court, and the Lakers spent most of the game trying to catch up.
In the second half, however, the Lakers turned things around and went on to win 123-103, improving their record to 6-4.
LeBron James, known for playing well against the Raptors, led the Lakers’ comeback in the second half. After a slow start, James took charge in the third and fourth quarters, doing everything he could to help the Lakers get back into the game.
James was excellent at setting up his teammates, finding gaps in the Toronto defense and delivering passes that led to easy shots. He also helped with some fast-break points by securing rebounds on the defensive end.
James finished with 19 points, 16 assists, and 11 rebounds, recording his third triple-double of the season and his second in a row.
While James played a key role, Austin Reaves was the most consistent scorer for the Lakers. Reaves stayed hot from long range, knocking down three of his nine three-point attempts. He also did a great job attacking the basket, finishing multiple plays with free throws. Reaves led all scorers with 27 points and also contributed six assists.
Anthony Davis was having another strong game, scoring 22 points on 6-of-8 shooting, including 2-for-2 from three-point range. He also had four rebounds, three assists, one steal, and two blocks before he was forced to leave the game with an eye injury in the third quarter. He did not return.
Jaxson Hayes stepped in for Davis and played his best game of the season, contributing 12 points and six rebounds off the bench.
