The Los Angeles Lakers faced a concerning moment on Wednesday night when LeBron James exited the game late in the fourth quarter of their 130–120 loss to the Sacramento Kings. Thankfully, it appears that James’s departure was not due to a serious injury but rather a lingering issue with his left ankle.

James revealed to reporters afterward that his left ankle has been bothering him for months and flared up again during Wednesday’s game.

However, James expressed uncertainty about the injury improving significantly as the season progresses. “Each game is different,” he explained, noting that some nights are better than others in terms of how the injury affects him. Despite the setback, James put up impressive numbers with 31 points and 13 assists in 36 minutes of play.

Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough to secure a win as De’Aaron Fox led the Kings with 44 points.

According to ESPN’s Dave McMenamin, James’s injury is likely attributed to the accumulated “wear and tear” from his lengthy 21-season professional career.

The loss against the Kings marks the Lakers’ second defeat in three games, further complicating their quest to climb out of play-in contention for the playoffs.

Currently sitting in the No. 10 spot in the Western Conference, the Lakers now trail the No. 6-seed Phoenix Suns by three full games, making their postseason aspirations increasingly challenging with each passing day.
