Last week brought about some astonishing surprises that completely shook up the LEC 2024 Winter Tierlist.
The official kickoff of the 2024 LEC took place last Saturday at the new Riot Games Arena in Berlin, where the top 10 teams entered the competition. However, only one team emerged without a loss. Before Week 1, we created a tier list for the 10 teams, and it’s not an overstatement to say that most teams did not perform as expected in the initial rounds. This unpredictability is what makes the LEC so thrilling – you never know what to expect, ensuring excitement throughout! Let’s explore how the rankings have shifted compared to the Week 0 Tier list.
LEC 2024 Winter Tierlist After Week 1
Karmine Corp (-5)
Experiencing the most significant drop in the tier list compared to Week 0, it’s disheartening to place KC so low. Despite some highlights, they concluded the first round of the Regular Season with a 0-3 standing.
Although their early game is strong, issues arise in the midgame, with Cabochard being somewhat underwhelming and Targamas delivering a performance described as merely “whelming.” Karmine Corp needs to function as a cohesive team rather than five SoloQ players to unleash their full potential.
Team Vitality (-5)
Falling almost as hard as Karmine Corp is Team Vitality, positioned ahead of their compatriots primarily due to Photon and Vetheo. Although Vitality’s toplaner and midlaner displayed commendable performances on Day 2 and Day 3, they couldn’t carry the team. Carzzy and Hylissang’s performance mirrored the narrative of 2023, and while Daglas wasn’t terrible, Team Vitality faces challenges in the Winter Season.
Rogue (0)
Rogue maintains their 8th-place position, largely thanks to G2 Esports. The rebranded squad had a lackluster start, achieving almost nothing on both Saturday and Sunday. Szygenda’s performance was uninspiring, with Larssen and Comp looking somewhat washed. Markoon and Zoelys were the standout players for Rogue, and the team needs to evolve its playstyle to make significant progress.
GIANTX (0)
GIANTX met expectations with an unexpected standout performance from Patrik in Week 1. While the rest of the team struggled to find their footing, Jackies exceeded expectations. GIANTX has potential, and if Jackies can diversify his champion pool, they could rise further in the rankings.
Team Heretics (-3)
Creating the tierlist becomes challenging at this point. Team Heretics, despite being one of the 2-1 teams, is considered the weakest due to their overwhelming defeat against MAD Lions KOI on the first day. The team, consisting of 4 ex-G2 players and Kaiser, is still refining its synergy, and its performance against top teams will determine its true strength.
MAD Lions KOI (+5)
MAD Lions KOI made one of the most significant jumps compared to last week, showcasing a dominant performance. They demonstrated their dominance on Day 1 against Team Heretics but faced challenges against SK Gaming. The 4 rookies are adapting well to the aggressive playstyle, and their progress will be interesting to watch.
Fnatic (-2)
Despite a slight drop compared to last week, Fnatic had a solid round. They were the first team to defeat Karmine Corp, but their match against SK Gaming exposed vulnerabilities. With some adjustments to their drafts, Fnatic is on the path to playoffs.
Team BDS (+2)
Team BDS faced an early loss against G2 Esports but showed promise with a different approach on Monday. The team has potential with standout players like Ice, making them a team to watch in the coming weeks.
G2 Esports (-1)
The Kings of Europe experienced a setback but remained a formidable team. Caps’ misplays against Rogue led to their downfall, and G2 needs to balance their “funny” plays to maintain their top position in the league.
SK Gaming (+8)
The standout team of the first week, SK Gaming, went 3-0, surprising everyone. With a mix of veteran and rookie players, SK Gaming demonstrated excellent coordination and teamwork. Their momentum is strong, and the question remains whether they can maintain it until the Winter Finals.
The 2024 LEC Winter Season Week 2 begins tomorrow at 5:00 PM CET. Can KC and Vitality make a comeback? Is SK truly a contender? The unfolding drama and the updated tierlist next week will reveal the answers!
