Lionel Messi, captain of Inter Miami, is poised to feature in a Michelob Ultra beer commercial during Super Bowl LVIII next month.
Since he arrived in Miami last summer on a free transfer, the 36-year-old has made a significant impact both on and off the field. With 11 goals and five assists in 14 games across competitions, Messi played a pivotal role in securing Inter Miami’s maiden trophy in the Leagues Cup.
Alongside former Barcelona teammates Sergio Busquets, Jordi Alba, and Luis Suarez, managed by Tata Martino, Messi has bolstered Inter Miami’s prospects as contenders in the MLS for 2024.
The Super Bowl, a pinnacle event in American sports, attracts an audience of approximately 100 million fans. Among the anticipated highlights is an advertisement featuring Messi, where he will showcase his acting prowess for Michelob Ultra. According to reports from GOAL, the advert commands a hefty $14 million for a 60-second slot.
In the realm of football, the defending Super Bowl champions, the Kansas City Chiefs, are vying for a spot in the prestigious event at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on February 11th. Their journey continues as they face off against the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC Championship Game at the M&T Bank Stadium on January 28th.
The victor of this clash will compete against the NFC Championship winner, either the Detroit Lions or the San Francisco 49ers, at Levi’s Stadium, also on January 28th, in Super Bowl LVIII.
As for Messi’s presence at the event, it remains uncertain as he will be engrossed in his preseason training with Inter Miami.
