Los Angeles Angels shortstop Zach Neto may miss the start of the 2025 season after having surgery on his right shoulder.
Angels general manager Perry Minasian shared the news on Friday, saying that Neto had the surgery earlier in the week.
“He will miss some time,” Minasian said. “How much time, we’ll see.”
Neto, who is 23 years old, made a name for himself as a regular starter at shortstop this year. He hit .249 with 23 home runs and 77 RBIs.
As a first-round draft pick in 2022, he was one of the few bright spots for the Angels during a tough season for the team.
However, Neto injured his shoulder while sliding into a base against the White Sox in late September. The injury didn’t get better with rest and treatment, leading to the decision for surgery.
