The Los Angeles Dodgers’ impressive streak of scoreless innings in the playoffs has come to an end.
In the first inning of Game 2 of the National League Championship Series on Monday, Ryan Brasier allowed a home run to Francisco Lindor of the New York Mets. Lindor hit a 2-2 pitch to right field, a 395-foot blast that gave the Mets a 1-0 advantage.
The Dodgers used a bullpen strategy for Monday’s game, with Brasier starting among several relievers planned to pitch.
Dodgers pitchers had tied the postseason record for consecutive scoreless innings with 33 during a 9-0 victory over the Mets on Sunday night in the NLCS. Jack Flaherty, along with relievers Daniel Hudson and Ben Casparius, combined to allow just three hits.
The Dodgers matched the scoreless record that the Baltimore Orioles set during the first four games of the 1966 World Series against Los Angeles.
